My Process
I started this modeling process by gathering reference images of chests from real-life sources and various video games.
Next, I crafted the basic shape of the chest model and iteratively refined it by adding details such as gears and individual wooden planks. Additionally, I ensured the top and bottom halves of the chest were separate models, allowing for potential interactive features such as opening during level design.
Subsequently, I organized the UV mapping of the model and imported it into Substance 3D Painter for texturing, employing a variety of materials and grunge masks to achieve the desired aesthetic.
Following the texturing phase, I seamlessly integrated the model into Unreal Engine, applying its material to ensure compatibility with the game environment, thus rendering it ready for utilization by the designers.
